Just had a call from WDW about offer running till 31/1/10 if buying points at AK. They are giving double points for first year and a choice of $2400 discount or 8 free annual passes (non expiry can be used any time). Points are $112 each. Minimum purchase 160 points.

Was told it is not being advertised. Thought may be of interest to anyone considering a purchase :)

Hmmm. Let's see a DVC discounted AP currently = $414.29 (incl tax) X 8 = $3314.32 / 160 (assuming the minimum purchase) = $20.71 per point. That would make the relative price per point $91.29 plus the value of the double points (a lot of folks assign a value of $10.00 per point because that is what you could rent them for).

Not a bad deal if you are in the market for AK points and you use APes (as opposed to park hoppers). Considering the APes go up in price every year, the deal would get better the longer you hold onto the vouchers. :D The other advantage is you could make reservations using the new AK points almost immediately with member services.

That would make AK DVC pretty close to the resale market which has been sagging a little bit. I notice the timeshare store has a couple of AK contracts listed as low as $80.00 per point (but only partial points coming in the next use year)--I don't know if they would pass the ROFR. For a new membership, DVC charges closing fees as does the timeshare store (not sure how much each charges).
