After selling one of our BWV contracts, we're trying to decide where else to buy. I was always dead against SSR, but with the announcement of the new feature pool and getting the jump on Treehouse Villas, i'm thinking again. It's cheaper than the other resorts (except OKW which I would never buy despite the refurb announcement) and we loved the THV. Do you think they only rented rooms out at SSR (and OKW) so cheap to help pay for the pool/refurb and that will stop?

not sure Paula, but Brian and I stayed at SSR in November and thought it was beautiful. We had a studio which was pretty spacious (not as much as OKW, but when you're used to values :D). Our location was super quiet, but convenient to buses (and a nice parking lot)

In Sept. our friends were all staying at SSR in three different types of accommodation and they all loved it. We went there a few times and I must say it is beautiful and peaceful. As you always have a car I would say go for it. As we use Disney transport I did feel it was too remote for us. Personally think there will always be none DVC guests due to the size of the resort.

We visited SSR for the first time on this trip and I really liked the look of the resort. I was surprised at how peaceful it seemed.

We stayed at SSR in November and found it peaceful and the build quality of the rooms was better than the moderates and value places we usually stay in. We were only in a studio but didn't hear any noise from the next door room or corridors. The only noise we heard was a about 9:10 each evening when the big bangs at the end of Illuminations went off at EPCOT.

We stayed at SSR in November as it was the only DVC place available at short notice. It certainly was peaceful - but that was because it was very empty - only 3 cars outside our building throughout, so no noisy neighbours. Personally we prefer BWV for the location location location. We also don't take much notice of our home resorts - have points at WL and SSR but never stayed at either before our SSR trip this year.

SSR resales are priced pretty attractively. The dues are not too bad, either. The contract length is pretty good, too. If you schedule your trip last minute, a lot of times SSR Is all that is available--might as well use SSR points... :)

Do you have any idea when the pool refurb is scheduled for SSR ?

It's supposed to start "Fall 2010" to be completed by "Spring 2011". It's the Paddock pool that's being upgraded.
