At least they didn't name it Shamu dinner. I'm not sure if that would turn people of from going, and disappoint large groups.

Ive dined with Shamu before, he's very pleasent company actually. The food was a bit raw for my liking and the wine was a little watered down, also having to change oxygen tanks every half hour was a little annoying but shamu's prescence more than made up for it. Well who would argue really? You could always 'dive' under the table i guess. He really splashed out on the meal too! He really is some killer whale, quite the conversationalist! Id highly recommend people to try it, just remember gents, shirt and tie to be worn with your swimshorts and brush up on your whale dialect before you go!:D

Thought I'd better ask a question seeing as I've spent all day jumping into other people's threads with 'wise cracks' (I'll get banned for not using the site for it's proper use:eek: ) hang on! can that happen?
Is 'Dining with Shamu' Lunch or Dinner?
I did e-mail Seaworld but obviously their Computer is waterlogged!!:hehe: or you told them about me:D coz they haven't replied:(
Anybody know?

I checked the Sea World website and it doesn't actually say. It just says it's a buffet meal waterside by the killer whale pool. However, I wouldn't have thought they'd want people munching poolside while the whales are doing their stuff for the rest of the public so I would imagine they'd only have specific times during the day when this meal is available, dependant on what time the Shamu shows are.
Of course I could be totally wrong. Be interested to hear what Sea World have to say once their computer has dried out. :hehe:

Just had this reply from Seaworld about the dine with shamu. I have noticed that the telephone number is different from the one on Joannes write up..Has any one telephoned a reservation and still have the number they used, if so would you care to pass it on to me please. the email is as follows:-
We do have opening for the week of November 11, 2002 for the Dine with Shamu restaurant. Seating times are still to be determined but you can book at this time by replying to this email. You will want to plan one hour to eat at the restaurant and enjoy the trainer and whale presentation. Only trainers are allowed to touch the animal but feel free to bring your video camera; as the Dine with Shamu gives you great up close taping. I would book before leaving home to ensure the date you want to come and eat is available. Park admission is required but since you are going to Discovery Cove you arleady have the 7 day pass that is included. Each adult dinner buffet is $28 plus tax ($29.68 each) and each child buffet (ages 3-9) is $16 plus tax ($16.96 each). Hope this helps with planning. If you would like to call our number is 407-363-2559 or 1-800-327-2424.
Thank you,

Have this afternoon received email confirmation of our reservations for dine with shamu.
I have been dealing with a lady call Andrea Tilton and her service has been excellent, she answered all my queries and has booked us in for Wednesday 13th November 2002, the day after we go to discovery cove.
No credit card was required, the only stipulation was that we had to book in at guest services by midday and pay then. Total cost including tax for 2 adults is $59.36. The only thing she said was that we would probably have to eat at about 4.30 due to park closing hours at that time of year.
Now i am getting excited..........:D

Alison,
Glad to hear that you have your PS, however, when I booked a few weeks ago for the 26th December we had to pay in advance on our credit card and were told just to check in at guest relations on arrival and were given a reservation number on the phone.
I will watch my credit card statement. Has anyone else had to pay in advance when they booked?

mickeymate, thought i would post the email i received for you so you could see what is said:-
Dear Ms. Aitken,
I have booked your reservations for Wednesday November 13, 2002. We are guessing the seating time will be at 4:15pm but will know more by the end of October. You can email back or when you arrive in the states call for the exact seating time. We can hold the reservation until 12 noon so please plan on stopping at the information counter that day to pay by 12. Your total will be $59.36. There are no professional photographers so please plan on bringing your own camera.
Thank you and see you in November.
Andrea
Hope this is on some interest. No mention at all about paying by credit card up front. alison.

Have just sent an e-mail to book a PS for this and have asked how & when to pay, so if any different will let you know, although your reply, Alison, pretty much 'talks you through it'.
Glad the photo info was in there. Thanks Alison:)

Have just returned from Florida and had the experiance of dinner with Shamu last week.
As the park was closing at 7pm there was only one sitting which was at 5.15pm and it was an eat as much as you like buffet.
Your dining takes place adjacent to the Shamu Stadium in an open fronted covered area. If it is raining hard towards the eating area they pull down a green screen which does unfortunately block your view of the whales. thankfully the thunderstorm passed and we were able to eat and watch.
There is a varied selection including an area set aside for the kids to choose their food (hot dogs, corn etc).
The adult choice is great not just fish and you get ice tea, pink lemonade and soft drinks included. There is a charge for alcohol.
So you start eating and several of the Killer whale trainers mingle amongst the eaters and you get the opportunity to ask questions.
Then they put on a training exibition for you with one of the whales .You are sitting about 5ft away from the pool side and the whale swims not more than 10 to 15ft away from you. I gotsome great pictures.
Be aware that the whale does do a splash trick and you may get wet. Not to the extent of the shows but wet anyway.
If you are celebrating they even do a cake for you (no doubt have to pay) and there were a couple of young kids who were having their birthdays there and the look on their faces when they brought the cakes out was a treat.
The whale is swimmining beside where you eat. there is no posed photographs but just timing with you in the frame and the whale in the brackground.
the staff were willing to take pictures and in fact they had an idea of what the whale was going to o from the signals from the keepers so they were able to anticipate alot better than i was.
I would reccomend this to anyone
Definately doing it again when we return

We are a family of four, dad32, mum32, girl11 and son9.
The dine with Samu sounds great, but it sounds like its aimed at people who wanna just be a couple of feet closer to the pools edge than the crowd.
Any other things going on?
Cheers
Rob and mob.
