Hi,

We will be arriving at WDW 9/18. Does anyone know at which Resorts the pin trading takes place? Also at what time? We would appreciate any info!! Thanks.

Resort??

I think you can do it whenever you meet people with the pins..O.o

I didn't notice any "big" trading occured in ASM. But at Downtown Disney, it's quite "busy" there at Marketplace...

When we were there on Labor Day weekend, they had pin trading at a different resort each night. I think it was a special thing for that weekend. We saw lots of pin trading going on at Epcot pin station and the Downtown Disney Pin Store. Some of the people were nice and some were .........not nice. I saw some older man being very rude to this young pin trading boy. I had to bite my tongue. Met some really nice folks though!!!

Madison,
I saw pin traders at the Pin Store at Downtown Disney in the evening hours (maybe they are there all day long). I felt a little intimidated by them. I had a lanyard with about 6-8 pins on it and the pin traders I saw looked like they spent a great deal of time and $$ collecting pins. They had tons of pins in carrying cases.

I doubted that I would have any pins of interest to them--I did notice that a lady had some pins from Disneyland Tokyo which one of the traders was interested in. He knew how much this lady paid for each of her pins (in yen) and he had most of them already. He seemed like he was trying to strike a fair bargin with her because there was a pin he had that she wanted and she was willing to trade it for a pin that cost her a lot of $$. The guy made a comment that the pin she had was a more expensive pin than his and was she sure she wanted to make the trade? I thought that was nice. But, these folks are definately way out of my pin trading league.

I pretty much just traded with Castmembers. It was a lot of fun and even DH enjoyed hunting for the special Cast Member Lanyard pins. In the course of our trading, I traded for two pins that were exclusive to Castmembers (apart from the lanyard series). I traded for them because I liked them. I found out later on that they were a really good trade as these pins are hard to come by--only cast members are allowed to buy these pins and they have sold out of this balloon series--whereas the castmember lanyard series pins are given to the castmembers exclusively for trading. (Of course, the "professional" traders already had a complete set of these pins :) ).

I kept trader pins on my lanyard--especially if a child wanted to trade with me. I would have been willing to trade any of these pins, but, I was not approached by anyone to trade pins. Maybe it is a breach of etiquette to ask to see the pins of someone other than a castmember? (Or, maybe I just didn't have any pins anyone was interested in-- Though, that kind of surprises me because I had some limited edition pins and some state pins and some castmember lanyard pins that I figured would be a good trade. )

I think there is a lecture at Expo Hall at the Mk sometime during the day where they talk about the proper pin trading etiquette--so, I am going to try to catch that on our next visit.
Good luck with your pin trading!

On this last trip to WDW, I had a lady at POR (a guest, not a CM) walk up and ask to trade with me. I did so, since she had a couple of neat pins.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply's.

We just came back and found out, there are certain pin trading hours at certain resorts. On Sunday nights, at the Boardwalk from 8-11, and also I think on Friday nights at the AS, also which was very cute at the Comtempory for kids only night.

We, of course, had a ball!!!

Madison,

Did you find a lot of novice pin traders at these events? (I hope)...

Hi,

You'll find all kinds of traders. At the pin station at downtown Disney and at the resorts, are all what we call "the pros" they all have bags and bags of beautiful pins. We enjoy looking at their pins. They all have the pins we novice's have. We have the most fun trading with the cast members and sometimes with other guests. If you are just starting to trade, do it with other cast members.

Have fun!!!

At the World of Disney Store in DTD...there is a CM there with MANY pins during certain hours. He has very nice pins...some very hard to find and he still trades like a CM (cause he is one)! This would be one way to trade for some harder to find pins without getting taken advantage of by the "professionals". I have some pretty unusual pins that I wear cause I love them....these are the one "professionals" want to trade rack pins for...do I look that gullible!

I have a policy....I buy and trade what I love...not what they may be "worth" someday...cause get what? I ain't sellin 'em!

Have fun most of all. The most fun I have is meeting new people and talking about the pins. I didn't see that many adults with pins on this last trip...except "pros"...and I stay away from them as they tried to scam my Mom once!

Happy Hunting!
