Please could someone tell me if you need to be a good swimmer to go to DC?

I DO NOT like being out of my depth even with a floatation device on but I would LOVE to swim with the Dolphins??

You couldn't drown with one of those flotation devices on if you tried. Not only do you have those vests but if you are really scared you can hire something that looks like a bullet proof vest (only about 4 times thicker) that you can't help but float in. You will have to be out of your depth to swim with the dolphins, but try the vests out first in the ordinary part of the park and swim round. You'll soon realise that in no way can you sink.

Thanks for the advice..........I am just terrified of deep water but I'm sure I'll be ok with all the vests and things they give you to wear!!

Thanks

Woo Guin, I'm not too keen on being out of my depth either, (don't like not being able to put my feet on the ground) but nothing is going to keep me from swimming with the dolphins!
Just not too sure about the snorkelling though....

Have a great time, whatever you decide to do!

We leave in 16 days, the dolphin swim is on the 27th, and I am SO looking forward to it too! But I'd much rather go in with the killer whale at Seaworld....:D

My friend has just returned from discovery cove and even her sceptic (sp?) husband admitted it was brilliant. The professional photographs they purchased were excellent including the free one you get taken of you when you enter was very good quality.

She wouldnt tell me too much as not to spoil my day when we go on november 12th next month. i cant wait.:bounce:

We've been fortunate to have the dolphin experience now 4 times. I swim like a stone. I fellin as a kid and am scared of water. I explained this and they allowed me to stay in a shallow area and even brought on (TJ) right up into six inches of water so I could stroke him. The staff here are excellent if they know what you're problem is.

Hi WooGuin!
We went to WDW last March and 'swam' with the dolphins at DC :)
Now I can't swim but still went and sooooo pleased that I did! Yes you do have to swim a fair way out, but the trainers are great, and the trainer that took us held onto me all the way through and made sure I didn't sink :) My hubby vidoed the whole experience and when I play the video back (ooh, at least 10 times a day!!) I am so glad that I made the effort! I can doggy paddle and the life jackets keep you afloat, and you will be so EXCITED about actually touching a dolphin that I bet you don't worry for a minute :D :D :D The next best bit was feeding the stingrays, loved it and you can just sit on the edge and they swim across your toes! The only bit I didn't feel at ease with was snorkelling but that was no great loss as there are so many other things to do - have fun :ears:

Hi WooGuin :)
The staff are lovely at DC and if there is anything at all you are nervous about, just let them know! I really can't swim, and people thought I was mad when I said I was 'swimming with the dolphins' - ok, I can doggy paddle, but it's hard work trying to stay afloat and enjoy everything around you! There were 2 trainers per dolphin, one near land in the shallow bit (up to your thighs) and then the other who swam with you into the deeper bit so that your party could interact. Our trainer held onto me as we swam out to the deep bit and there was no time at all that I worried! The best bit being when you can actually touch your dolphin and then hold onto him as he takes you back to land :D :D :D
Our dolphin was called Hutch, and when you do go, our trainer wore a white sun hat and he was lovely - can't think of his name.

Have a great time ;)
