We have never visited DLP yet, due to the only accomodation for a family of 5 being Davy Crocketts cabins ( no shuttle to parks)
and the Newport bay club level ( v expensive)
They have now built a new resort, opening next spring which has rooms with adjoining bunk bed rooms that can sleep a family of 6. There is also a kids play area, pool and shuttle to the parks. It is value accomodation and has great ammenities.
This is great news for my family and I and I hope WDW Florida follow suit and build a resort to accomodate 5 that is not deluxe resort prices.

Went to DLP Newport Bay 18 months ago with 5 (Myself and my sister one daughter each 17 & 18 and a 2 year old). It was OK for a short 3 day trip but cramped. I've seen the Explorers hotel in the brochure and it looks great for families. Next trip is for two only (empty nest syndrome kicking in) hopefully Hotel New York. We pay for our DLP trips with Tesco holiday vouchers from our clubcard. The last trip should have been £1350 for 2 nights by air from Manchester but we paid for it all on vouchers. Takes about 2 years of saving them up.

Fran what are these Tesco holiday vouchers ?
Sounds good!
I reckon we spend around 120 pounds a week on grocery shopping (when kids are at school and we are at work). How many vouchers would I get for that per year ?

3 cheers for Tesco clubcard vouchers!
They can also be exchanged for Air Miles. I am planning to use my long-saved miles for free BA flights to Orlando next October.:)
Mitra, you have to shop at Tesco and have one of their clubcards. You can then use your vouchers on various "deals" from their brochure.

Mitra - just checked.....
Spend £120 a week at Tesco = 6000 points a year.
You would qualify as a "premium" clubcard customer and could get 1120 Air Miles or £60 of "deals vouchers.
Vouchers can be exchanged for a variety of things. eg Alton Towers, cinema, bowling, musuems etc or can get money off various holidays. eg Paris Travel Service, Disneyland Paris (as per Fran I guess ).
Your spend would get you £240 off their brochure prices.
You can get more points by using Tesco Visa card and by shopping at selected other outlets.
If you want to know more, pick up a Tesco Freetime booklet instore.

I saw that we could go to DLP and worked out how many vouchers we would need. For two families we saved enough for the five of us to go. It took a lot of figuring out though. My daughter and me have been to DW 6 times (7th in a few weeks) and DLP twice. My sister and her family have never been. So the trip to DLP was an attempt to get them hooked. It worked well and my niece's daughter aged 3 now has a 'Mickey fund' so she can go to DW when she's older.
