Re: Port Orleans French Quarter or riverside resort

I've stayed at both and really like each for different reasons but my favourite is the French Quarter. It's so compact and nothing is more than a five minute walk. The big advantage for us was that the food court was never too crowded and our longest wait for food was five minutes. The pool is great, bus service was always reliable and we just loved the whole feel of the resort.

We also enjoyed our stays at POR as the resort is really relaxing however the resort is huge! Depending on room location, a walk of ten minutes could be the norm in order to reach the restaurants.

I'd return to either resort but would prefer POFQ.

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter or riverside resort

FQ for us, stayed there in Nov 07 and we are there again Dec 09. We was always picked up first and dropped off first which was great, we did share with PR on some day's but not all the time.
We did have a venture over to the riverside to have a look and found it very nice as well but a lot bigger than FQ. The pool at FQ is the best though with the draggon slide the kids loved it.

I like the privateness of POFQ, but I Love the beauty of POR . Piano Bob at The River Roost for a cocktail is a must . He's so funny . There is a horse & carriage ride that takes you through both resorts . The mansions are gorgeous and if you get a good deal, go with a water view room . There is a food court and a restaurant . You can rent boats .
Sometimes both resorts have their own buses depending upon the time of year . Also, boat service to DTD from both resorts . Very Nice !

Tweenie's response is great as it is virtually word for word what I would have said so has saved me afair bit of typing

Check out www.portorleans.org also - there's a ton of information there. Well worth looking at.

Have a look at skyscanner and consider going indirect to lower costs. For the sake of a few extra hours travelling each way you could save a lot of cash.

Re: Port Orleans French Quarter or riverside resort

I would choose riverside everytime!!!!!
When we were there in feb both mine and DH's parents saw it and are booking there next time.
I actually prefered alligator bayou to the mansion rooms too!!!! We stayed in both and I think the setting of AB rooms is much nicer (especially as most of the mansion rooms dont have water views!!!)
