Discounts for DVC Members?

What kind of discounts or "perks" do DVC members receive?
Resort? Dining? Shopping?

They vary Alexander. It's a bit like the AP, perks are announced rather randomly and it is your responsibility to learn them! I usually check at my home resort to see what offers are currently in effect. Usually, it's just a percentage off some meals in some restaurants, and a percentage off some tours and admissions to water parks and DQ (range from 10-20%). Once in awhile there will be a free dessert with dinner, that type of thing.

Hello,
Is this only for Disney Stores away from the WDW resorts, parks and Downtown Disney? I tried to get a discount at the World of Disney Shop in Downtown Disney and they told me that DVC members weren't eligible for a discount there.

I'm not aware of a blanket 10% discount in all WDW shops for DVC members.

We are newer DVC members & during last trip in November I was told no discount on merchandise anywhere at WDW for DVC members. Even World of Disney. I think that's wrong. Now that the Disney Club card is going bye-bye I guess there is no discount available at WoD? Anyone know? And, yes, I do think DVC members should get more perks. I really thought there would be when we joined & was surprised to find out how little there are.

There is a discount on merchandise purchased a some DTD stores when you have an AP and have purchased over a certain amount (I think $25). That is the only discount on merchandise that I know of. I never had the DC card, so don't know about that.

ok! But don't you think as property owners! we should get a decent discount on passes, stores and resturants!

Lets face it ---many of us are their best customers! "Been there" many times and plan to return! even more now that we own DVC.

At DTD -you can get the 10% from Disney Club or AP
so- what about us!
and at the resorts .... only a few resturants acknowledge us-- so we do go the the Swan and Dolphin alot! And the parks? nothing!

But why not a better package for the 100,000 members of dvc

i feel like i'm campaigning! or at least unionizing!

LOL! Yes, you do wax passionate on the subject.

DVC did offer other types of perks in the early days, as incentives to purchase. There were the APs that lasted for years! Now they are not quite so generous.

Keep in mind that DVC's perspective is that they have you now. You've just spent a packet of money on joining and you are certainly going to use your DVC. They don't need to intice you to come.

Also, they can't seem to keep inventory, so that means that folks are just buying into the DVC as fast as DVC can clear the properties for sale.

What they may be overlooking is that people can spend their dollars elsewhere while staying at a DVC resort! I don't need to dine on WDW property while staying at my home resort (or any DVC). I can easily go to an off site restaurant, or dine in my home. Not a problem! Other DVC members have learned to venture off the property more, now that the "golden handcuffs" are gone (the free park tickets). So, only time will tell...
