Vero Beach Add on...

Is anyone planning to take advantage of the Magical Beginnings program that is currently being offered for Vero Beach (which is now 90% sold out)?

For a minimum 50 point purchase, you can:

1. Get $10.00 off per point and keep your current use year points

or
2. Get $15.00 off per point and sell back your current use year points...

VB is a little more expensive on the maint. fees (I think it is $4.37 per point)...

Has anyone stayed at VB? I keep reading the trip reports and it sounds like a wonderful place...

It is a wonderful place. It is a place to go and do nothing but relax, walk the beach, play in the pool, attend some little "class" they may be offering, sign up to go on a special outing, take a bike ride etc.

It is a true seaside resort, although the ocean views are hard to come by.

The service is excellent, true Disney quality.

I'm not thrilled with the onsite restaurants. I much prefer to bring my own food.

There is a place to grill at the public beach which is absolutely right next to Disney's resort.

It's not at Vero Beach proper, rather on Orchid Island.

I like to go there at least once a year. I prefer to be there when the sea turtles are nesting. Seeing hatchlings heading for the open sea is my goal!

Ok, I'm a little late adding to this thread but we just returned two weeks ago from VEro & I loved it. I only wish I lived closer to it!

We are used to beaching at Myrtle Beach SC which is a major tourist town. Complete with wild teens, long lines of slow moving cars & crowded, often dirty beaches. Vero was the complete opposite of that. I believe other than the Disney Resort that all around it was private communitys. I think we had to drive for some miles before we hit the actual "town" of Vero that had the other hotels/motels, etc. EVen it was so tiny!

We didn't eat much on site. We got in our car & drove to another eatery every night. The burgers & fries from the pool side bar were excellent though!

The only bad thing was also the very good thing about it. Explanation: it rained at some point every day we were there, one day it rained all day. So on those occasions it kind of stinks it's such a small town & there isn't much to do. On the all day rain I was really wishin' for a Ripley's Aquarium or an IMAX theatre to entertain the kids.

We added on with MB a couple of months ago. We could have gotten the property cheaper with a rresale but wanted to buy right away so we could book a Beach Cottage for the Spring vacation 2004. We stay at Vero every year and decided we wanted to own here to take advantage of the really hard to book times when you need the 11 month advantage. We also don't really love the restaurants but the Green cabin overlooking the ocean is a lovely light lunch place. We have found several nice restaurants in the town of Vero but it is nothing like WDW when it comes to selection. we enjoy the layback atmosphere of this resort and feel when Disney stops construction at WDW the two off site DVC resorts will fill up quckly with people looking forward to a different type of vacation. I love Vero and always look forward to our trips here each Spring. Our only concern while at Vero is "pool or ocean, pool or ocean" etc. Not too shaby I think
