Honeymoon - WDW & Universal

I am getting married December 2005 (i know its miles away yet) but wanted to know how soon you all started to plan your honeymoons.

We definately want to be at Disney for Christmas Day and are planning to fly onto New York for a further week after spending two weeks at Disney.

We have been looking at the prices for December 2004 for the Disney Hotels and the price does seem a little high, i know its our honeymoon and all but you have to pay supplements for staying at a disney hotel over christmas.

We have however been looking at the Wyndham Palace and Spa Resort which is just off of Downtown Disney. Has anyone stayed there??

Sorry about all this but i want to plan it early to make sure its the most perfect and best holiday we've ever had!

Also (last thing i promise), are there any honeymoon packages we can put to it??

Sorry don't know anything about the hotels, just wanted to say congrats on your wedding. We also did disney and then on to New York for our honeymoon last year and it was fantastic, you will have a great time. Be warned you will need 2 totally different wardrobes as Florida is hot and New York was absolutly Frezzing!!

Thanks ceri

Even though its over two years away i still can't wait, we were suppose to be doing all next December, had venue booked and honeymoon deposit paid but unfortunatley finances being as they are we phsyically wouldn't be able to save enough to do it next December. The venue were brilliant and have moved it to 10 December 2005 instead and we used the deposit we had with Virgin to go to Disney March 2004 for our last holiday before our wedding.

Can't wait though, how did you find going from Disney to NY??

Congratulations! You are going to have *such* a beautiful time down there!

Prices may seem high, but have you selected a travel agent yet? Work with a Disney specialist who knows the ins and outs of the discount system for your particular needs and you could do much better off than the posted 'rack rates.'

Disney does have a 'honeymoon package' you can look into, as well. Are you planning on getting married AT Disney?

One of our British Moderators here, KeithOP, got married there this past Christmas - I'm sure he'll have loads aplenty to help you along with. We've another Moderator, Cinderella, who's a Disney certified TA, too.

why don't you look into booking the resorts and plane tickets yourself- you could save money that way

Thanks MM. I would love to get married there, but unfortunately my other half isnt so keen because we wouldn't have our family there with us (no one wants to fly that far ).

We were going to do it all with Virgin, but i did speak to one of the travel operators at OLP yesterday who suggested posting on here to find out a little more information on what others have done and what we might like to do.

We did get a brochure from Disney for their honeymoon package but it is only for the hotel and no flights so were a little dubious about that.

Hopefully Keith will see this and put his comments in, would love to hear from him, especially as he got married Christmas time

That's what I'm hoping, too - he's usually on in the evenings.

We've had several members book their honeymoons down at florida, you're going at such a special time though.

I'm thinking of giving OLP a go for booking our honeymoon, the advisor (think it was Cindrella) that i spoke to yesterday was really helpful. I heard alot of good reports about them from people on here, just a bit worried as they are a US company and im in the UK. I've never dealt with somebody over the internet before, always preferred to go into a travel agents and speak to a person direct.

I don't blame you at all. I used to book my own before using OLP - Cinderella (Jo) is my agent too.

One nice thing to know is that this is a UK based Disney site, and OLP was chosen above a host of others to be the prefered travel vendor. I know Joanne prides herself on working only with honest vendors, and OLP has a lot of European based clients.

You can always ask what their cancelation policy is, if you're nervous.

I wish Keith would log on! I keep checking your thread to see if he's responded. Bah! New grooms!

Still no Keith, where are you we need your wisdom on Disney

Mickeymac, how have you found using OLP, do you do it all through the internet, how does it work?? Sorry if i appear dim, just trying to grasp the workings of it and it does seem a little alien to me.

I will certainly speak to Jo again as she appears to know her stuff and she does come highly recommended.
