Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

We have been thinking alot about the wedding and honeymoon and as we would really love a disney wedding I think we are going to have to cut back in other areas. For example we are thinking of having our honeymoon at the Pop Century resort, do you think this would be ok??

Alot of other people I have spoken to on various boards who are honeymooning at WDW are having hotels anywhere between GF and POR but it just seems a little silly to pay out such extorinate (sp?) amounts when we are only going to be sleeping and having a little relaxation in the rooms.

I would really like your opinions on this and also if anyone has stayed a the Pop Century, what did you think of it and where are the best parts to stay.

Thanks
Lisa

Re: Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

I've read reviews all over the board on Pop Century, so I'm sure I'm no help there, but all I can think of is 'how sweet' it would be if you could book the building of your childhood. Like, getting the 80's building if you're in your 20's?? Know what I mean? I wonder how much reminiscing about your past, while starting a new life together, might mean to you...

OH! forgot to add, what I wished I'd done the most when planning our wedding, was listening to my heart rather than listening to everyone tell me what they thought I should do.

Lisa1976:

If I do this correctly, here are the links to OKWTink's trip report for Pop Century.

By the way, I agree with Mickeymac. Do what is best for you and your DH-to-be. It's YOUR honeymoon!

Re: Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

Yes, POR is more romantic, but are you guys the romantic type? I know DH and I aren't. We just wanted to have a lot of fun and have some great memories from our honeymoon. You can always spend that extra money on a romantic dinner if you feel like your missing the romance. If you truly don't plan to spend a lot of time at the hotel, then it really is silly to pay extra for the theme or romance factor.

Follow your heart is the best advice! Do what YOU want not what other people tell you. Have fun! I love telling people that my wedding was one of the most fun days I have ever had.

Oh yeah, and wear those silly/stupid/crazy bride and groom Mickey ears and everyone will help to make you feel that much more special!

Re: Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

Romance is in your heart and where you make it, not contained in a building or a restaurant.

I think the Pop Century would be a great place to start a marriage together. It is new, it is vibrant, it is well done and it is bigger than life. Your love for each other should be bigger than life, shouldn't it?

It is the beginning of how you will live together forever. I'm a believer in forever so humour me.

There is nothing shabby or less than about the Pop Century. Conserving on the cost of some items will allow you the flexibility to put your money where it will make the most difference TO YOU!

Take care now and follow your heart. Your head will follow.

Re: Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

I agree with MM, listen to your heart first...

Having said that :P my opinion, for what it's worth, would be that if staying at pop century would let you have the wedding you dream about, do it! It's not like the decision is stay in a tent by the side of a road ;-) pop century is gonna be disney and great! In particular, if staying at pop century helps to get you to the wedding pavilion, then I'd definitely do it... as you know, the WP is soooooo perfect.

We stayed at wilderness lodge & the poly for our wedding/honeymoon. Wilderness lodge was a good choice because we were close to the wedding pavilion and the christmas decorations made it amazing.... but since limo hire is included, whereever you stay it isn't going to be a problem.

(make sure you get some properly done wedding photos from one of the resorts though..... the staircase at the GF, beside the christmas tree and so on)

Re: Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

Pop Century sounds perfect, and as everyone has already mentioned; if it means getting the Wedding Pavillion, then go for it!!!!

Re: Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

Thanks for that everyone. Mickeymac, thats a good idea about staying in the building of our childhood, will look into that, we hadn't thought of that.

We do really want the wedding pavillion so it makes sense to stay in a cheaper resort.

We really want the magic kingdom photography too, but not sure if the purse will stretch that far, however I have read on other peoples wedding posts on another board that they have had a credit from the 2 hour photography put towards the MK photography. 2 hours of photography for two people is far too much and its only 12 pictures you get at the end of the day. Think i have some haggling to do with Disney.

Re: Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

You're right that 2 hours can be a bit much for 2 people and if you can put the credit towards the MK photos, that's a great idea... the MK photos are really great fun!

...just one thing, although the album you get only has 12 photos in it, you get the rest of the photos they took on a cdrom so you can make your own albums/prints etc. So in practice you get loads more than 12.

Re: Honeymoon at Pop Century - Wise??

We sent DD and DSIL to All-Star Music for their honeymoon and they loved it! I wish we could have sent them to a more expensive resort, but couldn't afford it. But it didn't matter! DD said it was the best trip of her life and they had a wonderful time!
