Question Help Needed

I am in need of a little help, We joined the DVC on our last visit in Nov 03 and will be banking this years points in order to have a longer stay next year.

We plan on staying at our home resort (Saratoga Springs) for around 9 days and then spend 7 nights at Vero beach, my problem is that I like to know what I am doing i.e. I will be booking flights from the UK as soon as it is possible to do so, my problem is I know I can book my home resort 11 months in advance but I will have to wait another 4 months to book Vero beach.

What happens if Vero Beach is full?

Should I forget about Vero beach and spend the whole holiday at WDW?

Can anyone please give me some advice on what we should do.

Re: Help Needed

When do you plan to travel? I would try for Vero at the seven month window. It is a wonderful resort and a true "seaside holiday."

You can always reserve the Vero days one at a time. That is, the very first day that you can call at the seven month window, so do and reserve the first day, and so on. Folks so that when there is a real chance that they might not get what they want.

Vero is surprisingly popular though, so if you are planning on traveling during turtle season you may end up with some little problems booking the exact dates you want.

Re: Help Needed

spike,
One thing you can do to hedge your bet is to book your entire stay at SSR at the 11 month window. Then, when the 7th month window comes up for Vero, switch over to that resort. If there is no availability at Vero, you still have your SSR ressie as a fall back postion. Then, you can ask to be wait-listed for your dates for Vero Beach.
What time of the year are you looking for ressies?

Re: Help Needed

spike,
I don't know when turtle season is, but 'Tink does--(she has actually been there for turtle season --lucky duck!).
As far as when you are planning to visit, from the standpoint of children in school--kids start going back to school the latter half of August and by Labor Day (always the 1st Monday in Sept) most everyone is back in school. So, I would think that your chances are pretty good in terms of competition with folks who have children of school age.

Re: Help Needed

dc took my recommendation right out of my mouth . Book your entire vacation at SSR and change consecutive days to Vero as they become available.

Vero is our home resort, it is beautiful , but be flexible with your days. 7 days would feel like too much time to spend there. Since Vero gets a few more local visitors versus onsite resorts which get visitors that go to Disney, Sunday through Wednesday night are the best days to stay there. Those are the nights we stay at Vero and it has never been more than 60% full (average 40%) versus Thrusday, Friday and Saturday nights when CMs tell us they've been completely full.
