Wedding Licence
I just wondered if anyone knows how long it takes to get from Disney World to the Court house where you get the licence? How much do you reckon it would cost to get a taxi there?

Re: Wedding Licence
dont know how much it would cost in a taxi as we drove from i-drive, think it took us about 30 mins, but we went the long way, i know you can go down the 192 to john young parkway (tink tell me if i am wrong) and then you turn right there on to john young parkway and then you take a left a little way down

Re: Wedding Licence
That sounds right to me! If you were at Hmmm...AKL, it would be the shortest ride, I think. But it's not going to be cheap. 192 is congested and slow and the meter will be ticking away. 30 minutes sounds about right, given the slowness of the road, and traffic.

Re: Wedding Licence
Hi,
We are staying on I-Drive and are getting married at Cypress Grove Park in October. We have been told that we need to meet with the Virgin Wedding Co-Ordinator at Wyndham Spa Resort in WDW the day before. Virgin will pay for the taxi to pick us up from I-Drive, but they say although they will arrange for a taxi to take us to the Court House to get our licence, we have to pay for it. They have said it will be around $65 (but that includes a drop-off back to I-Drive). Hope this helps! Lorraine |

Re: Wedding Licence
Ouch, that's a bit dearer than I had planned, and to go from Disney World it would be that bit more expensive! That's another bit of the budget gone already!

Re: Wedding Licence
kate it might be cheaper to hire a car for a few days, i know some brits dont want to drive over there, but honestly it isnt that bad, the 192 goes slow so thats ok, plus you would have the car to go to some of the cool shopping malls

Re: Wedding Licence
steve must admit i havent seen that before and the price is quite steep, i remember we had to show our passports at the court and we also had to be in america for 3 days, for a $190 thats twice as much as going the court, maybe someone in the orlando area could let us know if they do mail out licences, again its something i havent heard of

Re: Wedding Licence
I don't think I would be able to drive over there to be honest with you! We went to Florida last year and used the I Ride Trolley's on International Drive - I got confused with the roads just sitting on the trolley - i'd be terrible driving over there, and my partner doesn't drive which doesn't help.
As for purchasing the licence before we go, i'm a bit wary of that! (sound like a wimp in this thread don't I?!) Kate |

Re: Wedding Licence
Red, i was told you didn't have to be resident in Florida or any amount of time to be able to get married. We are planning on getting the licence on the
Monday and getting married on the Wednesday, will this be ok?? We will be in Florida from the Saturday before so will be in Florida at least 3 days before the wedding.
