Disney Photographer

Ok so here is the start to what I'm sure will be at least a million and one questions we'll have. Does anyone know if when you use the photographer they provide if you are able to get your negatives?

Thanks!!

I have never asked but I don't think so.

Re: Disney Photographer

I think if you paid for the photographer you are entitled to the negatives.
They are you're property and part of the process.

Usually the exact opposite in fact!

Most photographers earn their money from reprints and so have a significant interest in NOT giving out the negatives in case you go to costco and get reprints made yourself for 39c.

The contracts are usually written accordingly so that what you're buying is the photographer's time and he/she will retain copyright of all the images and possession of the negatives.

Now for Disney... if you're talking about the included photography for a Disney Wedding, AFAIK they're digital now. They take the shots and if you live in the states, they'll upload your photos to a webpage where you can choose your reprints to buy. They also give you a CD of "digital negatives" but they're low resolution not meant for printing.

If you're from outside the states, they don't want the hassle of getting you to buy reprints and so they just give you a cd full of high resolution, suitable for printing, digital negatives.

*SO* the answer is yes and no depending where you come from. If you live in the states and still want the digital negatives, it's going to have to be negotiated with Disney up front.

Re: Disney Photographer

Worth checking that with Disney though just in CASE they include Canada in the low res.... you DEFINITELY want the high resolution CD
