documents for car hire?

Hi. We're not planning on hiring a car while we're at WDW but want to be ready if we change our minds when we get there. So, do we need anything other than the 2 parts of our UK driving licenses??

Many thanks.

Re: documents for car hire?

Nothing else. Just remember to take both parts of the licenses. Oh and you'll need a credit card for the rental deposit.

Re: documents for car hire?

You are advised to take both parts of your licence as Dawn said. However we have never been asked to produce the "paper" part. They accepted the photo ID part with no problem.
Best to take both parts with you though just in case.

Re: documents for car hire?

Totally agree with Pluto. I have friends that paid for every insurance going as they didn't know better and the price of the car almost tripled!

When we went in 2003 we paid for the hire car when we booked our holiday here. When we arrived at the check in desk we were offered an upgrade to a larger car. As there was only my wife and myself we declined and were given the one we had paid for. We expected something like a Ford Fiesta but no, it was huge. The upgrade must have been to mini-bus!

I would give some serious thought to booking your car here before you go. The clerks at the check in desk are very persuasive and unless you can stick to your guns, you may get ripped off.

Just a small note about the driving. I was really nervous about it as I had never driven anywhere abroad before but I got on fine. The lanes are all clearly marked and the signposts are great - not like Britain's roads! The cars are mostly automatic so that helps a lot too.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide.
