Alamo At Orlando International Airport

We have booked our hire car through yescarhire, we got a voucher in for Alamo.

When reading the unoffical guide to wdw, it states that Alamo are off site, but I am sure that I have read elsewhere that Alamo are on level 1 at Orlando International.

Does anybody know for sure?

Thanks
Trish

Alamo is on-site. Be prepared for a long line.

Ive been told that if you go straight to the rental car desk instead of collecting your cases this reduces your wait - would you say that this was a sound plan of action? Also we are coming in on a British Airways flight which means we are on a 777, so a bit smaller than the 747's so we are hoping that this may help with the long line?

That might work. I haven't done it b/c I'm always afraid someone is going to steal my suitcases

Re: Alamo At Orlando International Airport

The confusion regarding the location of Alamo is probably because they used to be some distance away from the airport, and you had to get a shuttle bus to and from there.
As has already been said, they are now at the airport.

Re: Alamo At Orlando International Airport

We booked through a third party instead of taking the Virgin car so we had to join the regular Dollar queue. Unfortunately the car rental desks are for everyone, not just your flight so the size of plane or getting the car before your luggage won't make much difference. That theory only works when you're coming in on a Virgin flight and you've booked a car through them because they have a separate desk that only people off Virgin flights will be using, so then it makes sense to do the reverse to everyone else. If BA have a separate Alamo desk then the same thing would apply. Does that make sense?

Hi Paula that makes perfect sense. Oh well if it is not worth the bother we will just be patient and wait our turn, I too was a bit worried about missing our suitcases.

Re: Alamo At Orlando International Airport

We split up so DH went to get the car and me and the kids got the luggage. By the time we had the cases he was almost at the front of the queue so it does make sense to be multi-tasking. It doesn't make the queue any smaller but it saves you all waiting for luggage then all queueing for the car.

Re: Alamo At Orlando International Airport

I like your thinking with the slightly smaller aircraft but it really doesn't work that way, all it takes is a couple of other large flights having just landed and its going to be pretty congested. I agree if you can go check the Alamo queue first. Just a second thing to be aware off is from time to time, especially after thunderstorms, Alamo get behind with cleaning the cars after being returned and when we went to choose a car in June there wasn't a single car available!!! well it was an excuse for an upgrade!!!
