How Far To Each Coast From Davenport?

Hi folks.

I'm an ocean lover and can just sit and watch it for hours on end. My February Florida holiday is going to be a little strange for me as we will be staying inland (Davenport). I intend to spend at least a couple of days near the ocean and I was wondering if someone could tell me how far it is to a nice place on each coast (east & west) from Davenport.

I also love the sky and sunsets and was wondering if I'm likely to see any spectacular sunsets while I'm over there, or do they only really happen in the Keys?

Thank you,

Paul.

It will take you about 1:15 hours to Tampa/St. Pete on the west coast where you will be able to watch sunsets. Just take I-4 West.

About 1:15 to 1:30 hours to Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral area. Take I-4 East to SR 528 (Bee Line).

Have a great time!

I think the sunsets over the Gulf are absolutely beautiful. You shouldn't be disappointed!

Thanks for the replies - I'm really looking forward to it.

Just as a matter of interest, how long would it take to drive to the Keys?

Oy! That is another matter altogether!!! The Keys are a solid 10 or more hour drive from the Orlando area. It is a Loooonnnnnnnng way!

Worth going for sure, but a very long ride! From the Gulf you can take a high speed catamaran to the Keys. Not sure about the Tampa area, but I know you can from Ft. Myers and Naples (Ft. Myers is about a three to four hour drive, give or take).

CRIKEY!!! I don't think I have any real comprehension of just how big the US is! 10 hours???!!! I don't think I'll be driving down then!

Does anyone know any more about these catamaran rides? Cost? Duration? etc.

Thank you.

Orlando to Fort Lauderdale is about 3 1/2 hours. Fort Lauderdale to Key West is 4 1/2 hours. If you were looking at one of the upper keys (Key Largo for example) you could get there in about 2 hours from Fort Lauderdale
