Need some advice

Okay everyone looking for some advice. We are going to Disney world Oct 17-Oct 23. I am taking my two kids (14 and 12) a friend of mine and her son (12) and a friend of my daughter (14). We have been there twice before but the friends have never been. I am so excited to take someone who has never been there and they think it will be their only time that they will go (yeah right! thats what we said ) so I want to make it a great trip for them. Here is what I have so far. We land Monday afternoon and plan on going right to the ocean. When we get back I would like to do something to get them in the Disney mood, would you suggest Downtown Disney or the Electric Water Pageant. I have never seen it. Then we picked the Liberty Tavern for the character meal because my friends son like Donald Duck is he there? Also we are going to stay at the Pop Century hoping to get adjoining rooms. Would like to all stay together but can't afford the cabins that sleep six. Thought we would request the 80's area. Anyone stay there, good option or is there a better one? Then wanted to take them to some fun places to eat. Heard about the Whispering Canyon on TV. Is it a fun place? Then wanted to check out Beaches and Cream and try to get them to get the sink sundae. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks much

Re: Need some advice

I personally like the 50's and 70's area of Pop but its all about taste. I've heard that the 80's is really noisy b/c of the parkway next to it but I've never stayed there. Whispering Canyon kinda irrirated me b/c the staff was just over enthusiatic our waiter yelled "come and get it!" right in my ear. I though I was going to go deaf and it scared me to death I would get pumped up at downtown disney b/c I love to go in all the shops and Fulton's is my FAVORITE resturant there

80's was ok - the building is bright red and that was kinda hard on the eyes but the decor inside the actual room is fine. I certainly didn't find it noisy - we were on the 4th floor. We could see fireworks from our balcony so that was kinda cool. When we first got there we were in 50s - I liked that muuuuch better, we were closer to pool, food court and the building was a nice blueygreen, not so loud!

Sink sundae is awesome - with that many you should be able to finish it - we couldn't!

Re: Need some advice

The Electric Water Pageant is very nice, but viewing time is only a few minutes. Depending on your location, it's somewhere between 9:20 and 10:30-ish. I don't think you can view it from DTD.

I think I would go with DTD, as you won't need to be tied to a specific schedule when returning from the beach. Did I read that correctly? I'm still a bit flakey!

I don't recall seeing DD at LTT. I think I would remember that ducktail! But I could be wrong--the UOG members kept me well occupied! I remember Chip 'n' Dale and ... Chip 'n' Dale and ... You get the idea. Chip visited our table several times.

Do you want adjoining rooms at PC or connecting rooms? Adjoining rooms are next to one another with exterior doors; connecting rooms adjoin but have an interior door that connects them. Semantics, but important if you have specific requirments.

Stayed in the 50s at PC last December, on the Hourglass Lake side (away from the pool). Could see some of the EPCOT fireworks from the lake area, but not from the room. It was pretty quiet--about midway between the elevator bank and the end of the block of rooms. The turbo flush feature ensures that you will hear your neighbors flush at night, though. Discovered that even at YC!

Re: Need some advice

thanks for the advice everyone I will remember to ask for connecting rooms Thanks for letting me know the difference. Another quick question? This will be our third time visiting but we have never done the water parks. Are they worth going to and do you need a whole day there or could we do half a day there and a park the rest of the day? Any help would be appreciated. We thought the 80's a pop century would be fun because my friend and I grew up in the 80's and thought it would be a flashback to our junior high and high school years but my rethink it. Thanks again

We like the water parks - they are great fun and a nice "easy going" day.

Take a look here for more info: http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/tl.html and http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/bb.html

If you decide to go, try and get there early in the morning, for when they open, because they fill up fast!

We usually spend just half a day at the water parks - we find that to be more than enough. We head back to our hotel about 2pm then rest for a couple of hours before heading to another park

The only meal that I have ever seen Donald at is Donald's Breakfastosauras at AK.
